About Us

Our Story
Konoha was founded by two materials engineers from the United States—husband and wife, Ryan and Alex—who set out to build a home using simpler, more natural materials. Years spent working in plastics and chemicals gave us a deep understanding of how materials behave, and eventually, a desire to live with materials that felt more honest, enduring, and connected to nature.
That shared love of trees, nature, and thoughtful design eventually led them to Colombia. They fell in love with the country and moved to Medellín in 2020, where they began building a life, a family, and a home. During a renovation in 2021, Ryan and Alex searched for engineered wood flooring that reflected their values—natural materials, long-term durability, and responsible sourcing. What surprised them most was discovering that engineered wood floors made from Colombian wood simply didn’t exist.
As engineers, they couldn’t ignore that gap. Ryan and Alex began researching, testing, and learning—evaluating Colombian wood species, partnering with university laboratories in the United States to study performance and durability, and collaborating closely with wood flooring experts and designers. Their background in adhesives—one of the most critical elements in a truly durable engineered wood floor—became the foundation for building something better.

Konoha emerged from that process.
The name Konoha comes from the Japanese word 木ノ葉, meaning “leaves of the trees.” It reflects our respect for nature, our belief in material honesty and restraint, and our commitment to craftsmanship—while also nodding to our global perspective and engineering roots.
Today, Konoha exists to create floors that feel as good as they perform. Floors crafted from 100% Colombian wood, engineered with precision, and designed to last a lifetime—made with respect for nature, for the people who shape them, and for the homes they become part of.
